Capital Energy utilizes 20+ years of construction experience focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy projects to bring together construction and technology. In its goal to accelerate decarbonization and advance clean-tech solutions, Capital Energy works with early stage companies to bring innovation into the built environment. Based out of Somerville's Greentown Labs, the epicenter of clean-tech pioneers in the Northeast, Capital Energy is at the forefront of ClimateTech innovation.

Elayne Cronin, Ph.D., VP of Operations

Elayne leads Capital Energy's efforts to promote customer discovery, investor relations and brand development for our member/ portfolio companies and our strategic ClimateTech clients. 

 

Prior to joining Capital Energy, Elayne was part of an emerging ClimateTech company in the trucking industry, where she was instrumental in gaining market traction in New York City and New England, securing a prototype contract from the US Department of Defense, and fundraising for a seed and series-A investment from a global automotive manufacturer.

 

In addition to her passion for ClimateTech and collaborating with start-ups, Elayne holds a PhD in International Politics, has a background in professional documentary filmmaking, and is currently developing a documentary series about decarbonizing heavy industries in diverse regions of the world.

Ted Butler, Founder & CEO

Ted is an entrepreneur with a passion for bringing Clean-Tech solutions to the front lines of climate change with respect to energy production, storage, and usage in the built environment. Ted brings 20+ years of Construction Industry experience managing the design and construction of buildings and renovations throughout New England.


Previously, Ted spent 15 years as a construction executive for the largest construction contractor in New England. While there, Ted was responsible for all aspects of a construction project, from pre-construction planning and design coordination, to establishing and controlling budget and schedule, through to implementation and project delivery.
