VEIR is developing a new generation of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) power lines. Their key innovation is a more efficient evaporative cooling system that allows these superconductors to transmit massive amounts of electricity over long distances with minimal power loss and in a much smaller right-of-way.

The name "VEIR" is a play on the four variables in the Ohm's Law equation (V=IR), which is fundamental to electrical engineering, with the "E" representing energy.
